Code RED is a web-based system which gives the Washington County Sheriff's Office the ability to reach a large number of residents in a very short time, by geographically-based delivery of telephone and text messaging.  The system allows county residents the ability to create their own account so they can add or remove numbers they want the system to call.

The following are examples of when the Code RED system may be utilized: Extended utility outages, evacuation notices, missing persons, fires, floods, bomb threats, hostage situations, chemical spills or gas leaks, and other incidents where rapid notification is essential for life safety.

There is also a Code RED Mobile Alert safety app that delivers real-time emergency, community, missing person and severe weather alerts to users within the exact area of impact.

Alerts are initiated by public safety officials who use the CodeRED community notification system to effectively alert and inform residents to save lives.
